What is iCoach?
iCoach is a combination of new technology and hardware, a very intelligent software that uses the newest high speed Internet called 3G. It turns what is designed for single user only connections into a multi-user, completely portable connection. iCoach can be used for portable or home based Internet.

I upgraded to the new version Aug20-iCoach-r1.2 and now my blue cat 5 internet cable no longer works when I connect to the LAN port.
In the New version of software you will need a cross over cable (one came with your iCoach) and if you need longer lengths you can ask your dealer or any computer store for a cross over cable.

Does iCoach require any special power outlets or wiring?
The iCoach and its included signal amp are 12 volts and can be powered through a cigarette lighter in your vehicle, or it can be plugged into your regular home outlet with the supplied AC adapters. You can take it in your car, RV or boat or use it at home, in the office or at your job site.

Is the iCoach connection secure?
The iCoach can easily be password protected and users can be allowed or removed by their computers internal address called the MAC address. (Every Internet device has one).

What is the amplifier and antenna for in the iCoach kit and will I need this all the time to operate it?
The iCoach router and radio will work with or without the amplifier in most areas. The amplifier and antenna shows the best performance and gives noticeable speed increase in areas that are far away from big cities or have reduced coverage. The amplifier also makes sure, while traveling down the road, you are connected to as many towers as possible giving you the best possible connection you can have in the location you are in.

How do I know when I am using too much or close to my package size?
Your dealer will provide you with a CD that will contain a program called Net Meter which will calculate and total your usage in real time It can also be custom set to alert you at any time you set the warning pop up to appear. For example a 1 gig package, set at a warning to 750 MB and will pop up an alert when that point is reached. Future versions of the software will be upgraded with a built in, on board version in the iCoach router.
NOTE: if using multiple computers, each will need the program installed and the totals will give the usage.

Do I have to have a cell phone and will this work in an area that cell doesn't work in?
No, you do not need a cell phone for iCoach, it is a completely stand alone product. The coverage for 3G Internet is far greater than the coverage for cellular voice calling. For example, you can compose a text message or an e-mail on your smart phone but cannot place a voice call in a poor signal area. 3G is data not voice. With the use of the amplifier the chances are far less that you would have no coverage.

Do I have to install any programs on my computer?
No, there is no software to install unless you want the Net Meter program. If you do, all you have to do is simply drag the program from the CD to your desk top, no install is needed.

How do I connect to iCoach with my desk top and my laptop?
In the back of the iCoach is a standard port for your blue cat 5 wire to go to your desk top computer. Just plug iCoach into the power outlet and hook the cable to your computer and the iCoach LAN port and you are online. For the lap top users, just search for wireless networks and log onto the iCoach connection. If there is a password you will have to enter it and you are connected. Yes, you can use hard wire (desk top) and wireless at the same time.

Can I change my package as I need to?
Yes, you can upgrade or change your package or add or remove the USA/Canada back to Canada at any time by contacting your iCoach supplier. Please read fees and terms of each package or contact the iCoach supplier for exact details.

How many people can share the connection?
Although the 3G connection you will get from iCoach will vary, and is determined by the coverage area you are located in, we have found in our testing with 5 laptops all surfing in a mid to high signal area, that we had very useful speeds for e-mail and other common functions. It is determined by the coverage in your location.

Will iCoach work with my MAC computer or my Iphone?
iCoach will work on any WiFi enabled device. So if you had your laptops connected and wanted to add an iphone and an itouch it's as easy as finding the connection and logging into it . (if password protected you will need the password). Very flexible and great for multiple users!

What is the output range of the router to my laptops?
We have found in real time testing that we can get about 100 plus feet in open view connection. For example, while the iCoach is plugged in and turned on in your vehicle - you can leave and go in to a nearby restaurant and still access your internet connection. We couldn't ask for anything better than that! So even if you had the iCoach in your vehicle parked in your driveway you would have Internet in the house or cottage.
NOTE: Users of iCoach and travel trailers (tow behind) you can easily have your Internet connection in the tow vehicle while iCoach is powered up in the trailer while you are traveling. No need to move the iCoach from its mounted position.

If I live near or am traveling near the border towns do I have to worry about Roaming?
Yes, you do have to worry about roaming charges jumping over to the USA, so we highly recommend the USA/CAN package for users near or traveling in the USA.
